With the cold weather upon us, you may be looking for a new place to curl up with a nice brewski and try your luck, and fortunately we have plenty of new trivia events to tell you about.
Helping to fill the gap left in the Snohomish County trivia scene after the tragic loss of Emory’s Lake House in last month’s fire is a new event on Tuesday nights at Boston’s in Mill Creek. It’s hosted by Kelly, who hosted at Emory’s before the fire. Kelly is also hosting a new trivia night on Wednesdays at the Fremont Dock in, you guessed it, Fremont.
We’ve also added information about trivia at the Ram restaurants in Kent and Northgate, joining the University Village location we’ve known about for some time. If you know of any others, we’d love to hear about them.
Lastly but certainly not leastly, Pierce County gets some love this week with news of trivia nights at The Silo in Sumner and the Steilacoom Pub & Grill in Steilacoom.

We’ve received word that Emory’s on Silver Lake experienced a devastating fire on November 9, and there will be no more trivia night there for quite some time, if ever again.
Kelly, the host, is trying to move trivia night to another local restaurant. If you’d like to receive updates about where the new trivia night will be, please contact kelly@woodrushmusic.com.
Other venues that have discontinued trivia (for various reasons) include: Atlas Foods, Cafe Metropolitain, Bill’s Off Broadway, The Waterwheel Lounge, Wayward Coffee, DC’s Bar & Grill, and Tony’s Liquid House.
Finally, there are a couple of new venues to report: McGilvra’s in Madison Park (Wed, 8:30) which has been running for a few weeks now, and Mona’s Bistro & Lounge which starts this Sunday at 7:00.

Comes now word of two new weekly trivia nights in central Puget Sound. On Monday nights, Boud’s Pinehurst Pub steps up to serve the sadly underquizzed residents of northeast Seattle. Eastsiders may want to check out the grand spectacle every Tuesday at Parlor Billiards in downtown Bellevue’s Lincoln Square. Please consider rewarding these fine establishments with your business.

We just made two new updates to our map/calendar:
First, there’s a brand new trivia event starting tonight (Wednesday April 8th), at Blue C Sushi in Bellevue Square. If you’re in the neighborhood, drop by and help make it a great opening night. (And then stop by the forums and let us know how it went.)
Second, we just got wind of a regular Tuesday night trivia event in Everett at Shawn O’Donnell’s American Grill and Irish Pub. Apprently they have a regular following of about 12 to 15 teams, but room for plenty more. Check it out.
As always, if you know of a pub trivia event that we don’t have on our calendar, please let us know. We couldn’t do this without you.

It’s the time of year when bars, especially of the Irish persuasion, tend to get more business than they can handle, even without pencil-toting trivia nerds around. We understand that a number of venues are not holding triva this week, especially on Tuesday (St. Patrick’s Day) and Wednesday (recovering from St. Patrick’s Day). You might want to call and find out whether it’s on at your favorite hangout this week.

…to trivia we don’t go, in all likelihood, as we expect that many of Seattle’s favorite suds merchants will be closing up shop at some point this week in honor of Thanksgiving. Thursday venues are obviously suspect this week, and we know of at least one place (Wilde Rover in Kirkland) that won’t be hosting its regular Wednesday night trivia event as well. Wherever you like to get your trivia fix, we recommend calling ahead first to ensure it’s still on.

On Tuesday night we plan to plant ourselves on the couch and watch election returns into the wee hours. We’re hearing word that some pubs, such as the Old Pequliar, are canceling trivia events set for that night because so many of their regulars are planning on doing exactly that. Consider double-checking with any venues that hold trivia events on Tuesdays before heading out that night. (Oh yeah, and don’t forget to vote. Unless you’re supporting the wrong guy, in which case don’t bother.)

Some Barack Obama supporters in Ballard are hosting a trivia night-slash-campaign fundraiser on Tuesday evening, September 30 at 7:30 pm at the Hi-Life restaurant in Ballard. For a $20 campaign donation per player, you and your team can try your luck (questions will be non-Obama-related, we’re told). Prizes are on offer for the winning team; we don’t know what they are, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see some Obama/Biden swag in the mix. Click here for all the details.
(In the interests of equal time, we’d be happy to post a similar notice for any McCain/Palin trivia fundraisers, although I gather that Gov. Palin thinks knowledge and intelligence are for community organizers and other pansies. —Paul)
